Why CMYK – Not CMYB?

It's easy to imagine that B might be mistaken for Blue and thus confused with Cyan. But where does the K come from? One theory holds that K is from Key, referring to black being printed first, so other colors can be aligned to its registration marks. Another notion is that the K is lifted from the end of the word Black. Whatever the true origin of the mysterious K in the acronym, it's here to stay.
